The story of Allawi

Back to overview

There is something to do again. Something to get up for in the morning! Allawi was a farmer near Aleppo, before he tried to flee to Turkey with his wife and three children in 2017. They ended up stranded in a tent camp near the border. And there they have been waiting for over six years. Doing nothing. Praying. Hoping. And more of nothing.

For the past few months, Allawi has been involved with The Farm through our coordinator Taha. He has helped with the pea harvest and the planting of pepper and eggplant seedlings.

Allawi now has work to do. There is some income again. His situation in the patch of no man's land in Northwest Syria is still grimly hopeless. But his days are no longer endlessly empty. And that feels better.
